My client is a multi-national engineering group who design and manufacture capital equipment for the power generation, oil & gas and industrial sectors. Due to continued business growth they are looking to recruit an experienced Quality Engineer as part of their quality team: The main accountabilities for this role are as follows: • Assisting in the compilation and updating of business systems, procedures and manuals • Involvement of internal audits of management systems • Quality appraisals of selected sub-vendors to ISO9001 • Preparation of Contract Quality Plans • Participating in Inspection of materials, components, and finished products, including Inspection at Sub-contractors work • Liaising with clients and independent authorities with regard to witness inspection • Maintenance of quality records • Review of Supplier certification and compilation of record dossiers for clients in collaboration with Contract department • Assisting in the maintenance of a quality improvement system whereby deficiencies in materials, manufacture and design are reported, analysed and rectified. My client is a leading manufacturing firm, who due to a significant rise in business need to appoint an ambitious Plant Lead to join their team in Glenrothes. The Plant Lead is the senior operational supervisor for each shift and is the senior person on site out-with normal working hours. The primary responsibility is ensuring that the production plan is adhered to for their shift and providing first line decision-making and direction for operators. Your remit will be to Organise and supervise the shift operators to ensure they are where they should be and are working on the production jobs as detailed in the shift plan / MES. Ensure that the necessary materials and equipment is available to undertake production per the plan, including tooling, process cards, reels and WIP. Monitor plant efficiencies and line speeds, ensuring manufacturing processes are adhered to and that a structured and pro-active action plan is followed to minimise any downtime, including escalation as required. In conjunction with Manufacturing Engineers, lead continuous improvement activities within the factory to improve processes and workplace organisation, raise efficiency and reduce scrap. Set and enforce the housekeeping standards for the factory, ensuring that cleaning schedules are followed and housekeeping audits are completed per schedule, with results monitored and reported. Manage the manpower, ensuring holidays are structured to avoid unnecessary down-time and that company standards relating to timekeeping, absence, breaks and other policies are properly adhered to. Ensure that operators are working in a safety-conscious fashion, following proper procedures and using the proper PPE. Understand and follow the correct systems and processes as defined by operations management, including Quality Plan, MES, BAAN and Cognos. Provide efficient channel of communication between other plant leads / shifts, support functions, management and operators, ensuring The successful candidate will be qualified to atleast HND level and have a minimum of 5 years experience within a manufacturing background.
